📷 Enares Farm, Eungella. Moses Toupay Enares (middle) with James Noter & Harry Mussing, c. 1950. 🔹 Moses Enares was born in Lanurat Village, North Tanna (Vanuatu). Moses gained success as a Tweed banana farmer, and according to Lola Noter (Jaseck), “everyone went to Moses as he was considered smart like a bush lawyer for us” (2017). 🔹 Moses and two friends were coerced onto a Recruiter’s ship at 12 years of age. According to Moses’s granddaughter, Emelda Davis, the conditions on board were oppressive, and Moses was “put in the hold and fed stodge, a flour-like substance” that often gave him diarrhea (2020).
